I am toying with getting a new syrup pan for my grimm lightning 2.5 X 8. I am going to talk to my dealer Tom Kaufman about it, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions other then ordering one from D&G. (I'm a little peeved with D&G over a roof jack fiasco earlier this year)

I am in NY
Pan is 2.5 X 2.5
Arch is converted to oil
Lastly I know I don't have much of a chance of getting by next season.
:)

Thanks,
Jody Condon

I ordered new pans about 6 weeks ago.... they are done. I ordered a 6x10 drop flue.... 7500 and 6x4 front pan for 1650. Leader wanted over 2900 for the front pan alone. These pans are all welded.

I can give you an update in a few days on the quality.

I'm confused - do you have a GH Grimm ("Grimm") or a Dominion and Grimm ("D&G")? Grimm is Leader, D&G is D&G.

Check with Bill Mason(username WF Mason) as he can build a match to about any size pan. Something small like that he may be able to work in before season begins. Send him a PM as he has an excellent reputation.

Didn't I just read that Matt is the master dealer for Thor now? I am just curious if this is where your pans came from. If so, I would like to hear how the quality is. I am thinking of getting a new front pan made. When I talked to a dealer here for another company they wanted an arm and a leg.

That is a very good possibility that he is dealing for thor. never thought of that. I will find out and let you know. I am waiting for the weather to clear up a little before going to get my pans. dont need to haul them on wet slimy roads.

Thanks for the info. The pans were made by GH Grimm in 1990. Unfortunately at the time they used lower grade SS so it is actually corroding. The guy that fixed my pan last year explained it to me a being the difference between 304 SS and another alloy. One being magnetic and the other not. Oh well it will get me by for another year if I need it to. I will contact some of the people listed here and hopefully have a new pan. Thanks again.

Yup, Grimm was switching from 304 to 430 stainless in '92 and by '93 everything stainless was made with 430. This was common industry-wide during the early '90s.
