What's the overall height of an 8" membrane tower? I'm building an RO room soon and want to make sure I build it high enough. Where I'm building it, height will be a problem and I was going to build it to 6' interior height.
Thanks

Without going down to measure.... a CDL tower is slightly higher than that. Within inches.

Josh, Once again, without measuring, I think my tower is roughly 5' tall. I would assume that your 4" tower would be about the same. Thad is correct, his CDL towers are taller than the Lapierre.

Just went and measured mine. CDL with top fittings is about 6 feet 2 inches and the LaPierre is about 5 feet 2 inches

Thanks Doug for the measurements. That's getting pretty tall. Is there any way to make it shorter and why the height difference? What is CDL doing differently? I have a 250 now, but am planning things for a 600 if I need one in the future.

You know the theory..... Bigger is Better. LOL.... and no you can not make them shorter.... CDL.... unless you use a saw and hammer.

The difference is the style of recirc pump used, which makes the CDL higher.

How much space do I need above the tower? Would a 7' clear height be high enough?

Josh,
I think that would be lots. I tip mine on its side to get the membrane in and out. You could probably get away with about 6 inches of clearance above the tower. I think that I would consider a minimum of 6 feet 6 inches so you could keep your options open as to what brand you might choose in the future.

On a trip to northern Vermont I saw some new lappiere machines with the membranes stacked horizontal.

Lapierre has come ouit with a horizontal membrane cart---It has a wash tank and filter canisters attached to it. I like the concept, as my RO room is getting a little cramped. I would like the idea of rolling the rack out of the room in the off season. If I remember--the price tag is a little high!!
