Season is over for me. :( :( Haven't finished off the last out of the evap. but I am way down for the year. I had 160 taps in and made only slightly more than I did when I had an average of 50 taps in 2003. I say avg because I was new at this in an evaporator and kept adding as I saw I could handle it with a half pint. That year I got up to 60 taps but the average was about 50 for the days that had flow. There is always hope for next year, that is what keeps any farmer going. I have already sold all of my syrup and had a friend who wanted 4 gal for him and his family that "I" had made and I couldn't do it. If I had any left the price would go up because I think more producers had an off year than a boom year He had to go to another local guy who makes some but has never tried to sell much. Next year I plan to go from 160 to over 300 taps, that should help, and all of the added ones are roadside or yard trees, about 50-50.
