I have been wanting hot water in my sugarhouse for a few years and wanted to get some input from folks-

I know the simplest way is to get a hood/pre-heater. don't think thats going to happen just yet.

so here is my scenerio- I have access to water from the barn via an overhead 3/4" waterline that normally carries my concentrate from the RO in the barn to the sugarhouse (200 ft away) - we have a hose hooked up to it to push water through for washing, etc...

is there a way to add a small over head tank (say 40-50 gal) in the kitchen area, fill it up once in a while, have it run though some small hot water heater (tankless?), through a sink, and drain completly so it won't blow a pipe when it freezes? not sure if its similar to a system someone would have in a cottage or cabin.

thanks for your input...

tuckermtn,
Sounds very doable. Like you say; make it so you can be sure it drains so that it does not freeze.
We love having hot water for clean up. I have mine designed to drain in extreme cold weather.
Good luck! Sounds like a nice addition to your syrup operation.

Chris
