I am looking for some info on were to buy some fire brick, I am building a finishing pan (flat pan) about 2x4 and an arch to go with it. Any advice for this project would be welcomed.:)

i got fullsize briick (2x9x3 ?) from my local building supply not the big guys
and i got the smaller thin stuff from my stove shop
saw both kinds at a country hardware in the middle of the state also

Not sure where you're at in NE WI, but if you're within stinking distance of Fleet Farm in Green Bay you could give them a call and see if they have it. They typically do carry split brick at a good price.

I bought mine at a full line masonry supply. They have full and half thick at about 50% less than the maple places. These bricks are used in fireplaces and many boilers.

Do exactually as maple flats said, the cheapest way to go

I got mine at a masonary supply place, I use half bricks in my barrel. I used a 1/2 inch ceramic blanket behind it, and the ouside of my barrel remains relitivley cool. I got the blanket from mcmaster carr, it is fairly cheap.

I bought my 1/2" ceramic blanket off ebay. Even with shipping it was cheaper than buying locally.
