Wondering if anyone else is running one of these. I am looking at picking one up. I know the CFMs are plenty high enough for the system I plan on putting it on just wondered how well they pull higher vac. Any info on this model would be appreciated. Thanks.

It will get hot like most vein pumps running high inches, good ventillation is important if its in a room, extra oil (clean) helps with heat, and short exhaust with minimal turns, should be able to consistantly pull 20 inches. I have worked on a number of 78's 74's 84's... and other brands, i preffer the old universal pumps because the veins are spring loaded but more importantly a 1/2" thick vs. a delaval 1/4" thick. Delaval's occassionally snap veins when they wear short. But i am used to working on them where they run 24/7 on dairys 78's have 4 veins and a vein kit for them is under $400 so fairly cheap to rebuild and very easy. I'm not trying to knock the delaval's they are good pumps. Also make sure you have a good moisture trap, a full slug of liquid can cause vein failure as well. Also if you plan on opening up the pump it is very helpful to clean out the slots that the veins side in so that they drop in freely. If a vein is hanging up you will hear the pump knocking on startup until it loosens up in the slot. these pumps ussually run a 5hp or 7.5hp Good luck any questions feel free to ask

thanks for the response arcticmaple I appreciate it. I have been looking at the rebuild kits and have found them for $200 including viens bearings and seals. The one I got is 5 hp. I am planning on opening it up to check the viens and clean it up. I assume I can just unbolt and pull the cover off the end of the pump to open it up. After I clean it up and get it running good I will just need to figure out how to set it up with flood and reclaimer system.

Tstew when you take the end plates off you use the same bolts that hold the plates on to pull the plates off. There should be two threaded holes that you put the bolts in and evenly tighten and the sides seperate:)

thanks for the help guys, pump is apart now. 3 out 4 veins were not working(sliding). Just about got everything cleaned up and working. Hope to put it back together this week and see how it works. Veins, bearings, and seals all seem good.
