Hey guy's! I have a question and some feed back would be nice! I am just about done building a 3x10 Evaporator! My friend had a used frame and door's for a Dominion and grimm! I used them and based my arch off from them! He also had a grate! 41 inches long and he told me to use it and that he had more he just had to find them! He said they were out of the 3x10 because he changed from wood to oil back in the day! My question is I need more Grate's to finish it! And no one has 41 incher's! Is that grate right for that arch? Everyone has 36 incher's but I built it to a 41" grate! If I can't find any used ones can you order them right to your size? Thank you! Dan

Dan,
My original grates on a 3 x 10 KING go across the arch and are only about 30 inches long. Sounds like you are running yours front to back, which may be the way that arch was designed?

I looked in the D&G catalog and they list a 42" grate. Grimm makes a 39 1/4"
If you call one of the manufactuers they might be able to tell you if you can still get a 41"

Thank you Keith! I will check it out! Worst case I could weld in 2 more pieces of angle and shorten it up to 36 but the 42 will work because my fire box is a tad bigger then 41! Thank's again Keith! Oh one more thing! How do you go about getting a D,G catalog?

One thing is the 42 inch grates 42 inches long or made to fit in a 42 inch long hole. That would make them 41 inches long. There is a place up here has mega used grates also. I can give you the link and translate it for you if you need.
I worked for a company once where a guy ordered 20 foot gates and then made the gate posts 21ft 6 inches apart and then found out the gates were only 19 feet long to allow for hinges and such.

If you are using a blower on it, make some cheap grates out of full size firebrick with 3/4" holes drilled in them.
