I have never been to one for any company, but I am considering going to this one to hear Dr. Tim speak about the cv adapters, check on the Max Flue pan,and check out their new arch they have come up with to compete with the other high efficiency evaporators. Are there actually any specials at these open houses,as I am considering getting some mainline, fittings, spiles, etc?
Thanks

I'm going to be there. I actually plan on hitting all four open houses so I can see all evaporators in person before I pull the trigger on one.

And to echo the OP are there really good deals on equipment at these? If so Imma load the truck up with tubing until it waddles going down the road. :)

ETA: Probably should put this in a new thread but has anyone stayed at the Lakewood Campground there in Swanton? I'm a cheapass and don't want to pay for three nights at a hotel.

The four open houses are Leader evaporator and Lapierre in Swanton, VT. Dominion & Grimm in Fairfax, Vt and CDL / Maple Pro in St. Albans. All four are within 20 min drive. Typically they offer 10% discounts and maybe more on some stuff. The dates are the 30th of April and May 1st. You should be able to go to their websites for directions, speakers and verify dates and times. Food is pretty good typically especially for free and It's great to get lots of info in person. This way you can find out what your doing wrong. See ya there.

Here in Canada,CDL's open house is May 14,15,16.Lapierre's is May21,22,and D & G wouldn't answer my email as to when their's is.That would be great if I could see all in action on the same day in the U.S!!!

I stopped by CDL in St Albans this afternoon to pick up some supplies and the counter help told me that CDL will be offering 20% off all cash and carry items on Friday and Saturday of open house weekend. A great deal and a good time to stock up on tubing and fittings.

I got held up on Friday last year. By the time I got to Swanton, Jerry had gotten most of the hot dogs and was trying to get his head inside that new Lapierre Force 5 to see how they were making it work. had to go back over to Leader to get something to eat:lol:

So maybe I will see you there Tim, how about you Doug? I will have to wear something that will stick out more than my stunning good looks. Maybe I will get to talk to some other traders, or least they will know to head the other way.

If you can't make the open houses on the weekend of 4/30-5/1 another great open house is at Goodrich's next weekend on 4/23-4/24. 10% off all inventory and orders of supplies and equipment. Dr. Perkins will speak on the CV spouts on Friday. Other topics covered include high vacuum systems, the new maple grading system, RO operation and more. I plan on going friday. Check out their web site for directions http://goodrichmaplefarm.com/

You guys consider hot dogs food do you. After you have seen politics and hoy dogs made you don't like either.

I've seen them made and I still like them. After all I also have seen some places syrup is made and I still like that too.

If it is a cool day I will most likely have my blue Mark Martin Viagra Jacket on, that sticks out in a crowd. That wasn't ment as a pun but it sort of works doesn't it.

I'll be at St. Albans that weekend with the family and will be hitting Leader, CDL, and Lapierre. I'll be on the lookout for fellow Traders.

Jerry, I'll be looking for someone "sticking out" in the crowd.

Do you guys know whether or not they usually accept credit cards at the open houses? I've got a good distance to travel and don't want to make it carrying a whole wad on me.

They do accept credit cards on normal business days so I would think they would then also. If they don't I will be a bodygaurd for 10%

Can I still write it off as a business expense?

Who would hire a bad kneed body gaurd. If you carry hundreds they take up less room then 20s. Vermont also takes $3 and $17 bills still. They are pretty easy to deal with,

It's not about space as much as it is paranoia. Throw in 12 hours of driving and staying at a campground and I'm going to be up all night in my tent clutching my hard earned greenbacks waiting for morning where I can trade them for tubing. Although I have to drive most of the way through Canada and apparently you guys make a little bit of syrup up there so it is possible that I might get held up for my tubing. :)

KenWP
04-18-2010, 10:08 PM
Tubing probbably not but if you have a pump or a realeaser now that's different. We don't use banks up here as everybody is honest and never lock our doors either. What route you taking so I can let my gang know when to expect you.

Remember I still have one good one as Theron hasn't sent up Uncle Guido yet and if all I have got to do is worry about Canadians, well enough said. You guys will all be ice fishing at the forum in between hockey games.

Just got back from Vt last weekend. Didn't plan that one very well, forgot all about the open houses and I was almost to Burlington on my travels. Couple more miles north for free hotdogs...who can resist. That would of been an easy sell to the wife and kids. Enjoy guys, don't spend too much were in a recession.

I was parked in Leader's parking lot all day this saturday for the auction next door. And my father's making another run up this morning for stuff that didn't fit on the trailer. What blows me away is that Leader isn't open for those 2 saturday's when Forniers pulls in 2k plus farmers.

Would love to drool over all that shinny stainless! And maybe eat a few hot dogs too!

Have fun guys and help the economy! Make us proud!

I'm here in St. Albans right now, Maple Trading on the hotel WIFI. Halfway here we found out the power at home was back on so my wife was right that I didn't need to stay home and turn on the generator. So now it's all about the maple... nothing else to worry about.

Does anyone know where CDL is going to be moving to?

Come on, Where are the pics guy's!!:D

With all the tech we have these days we should have had pics up yesterday morning or afternoon.

I wanted to get up there this year to look at the evap's before buying one this year but other commitments prevented that from happening, maybe next year.

Hi everyone,my wife, one son and I made the trip yesterday.First stop was Leader's,very impressive, very big!!!!!!!Customer service was absolutely fantastic!!!!!I had a list which my wife went with, salesmen helped her find everything on her list, whilst I went with my list and the large cart the salesman brought to me,good thing he did, time we were done items were falling off the cart.My only regret is I didn't get to the back where the pans were manufactured as my son did,my wife was ushering me out the door before the salesman found me another cart!Wnt to see the new Vortex boiling outside, thought the pans needed to be clamped down, very impressed!!!!The max flue pan was throwing boils like mad.Only comment against it was you would need a high sugarhouse if you didn't have one time the steamaway and everything was on it.
Next stop was Lapierre's,salesman must have been having a bad day,his comment to my wife with her list,I can't help you unless you know specifically what you are looking for----BAD MOVE,I was out looking (or trying to) at the Force 5,couldn't see anything since it was set too high, she said TIME TO GO
Okay, next was CDL,picked up some tubing fittings, toured around the facility, but the same thing with the Intense-o Fire, too high to see into,so it is a choice between two companies for the new rig.
Lastly was D & G,what a disappointment, not much to see,no pans or evaporators to check on the fit and finish, seemed to be surprised that I would like to see the new Tornado working.Customer service was very good, but can't work with something you don't have.
My overall take was Leader's first, with CDL a close second.

Well i to just got back from a fun filled day, you could fallow me around by looking at the droule markes on the floor, my first stop was lapiere, i was preety impressed, but didnt get to see much of the smaller line of evaps that im looking for, second stop was leader did the hole building it was alot more then i expected, the manufacturing end of the building was awesome and i was amazed watch the guys roll off the 30p line out of the machine, very empressive, next stop was cdl... there is where i made my mind up. 2x6 raised flue, economicly priced for me and comes completed everything from the stight tube for the rear pan, to the stainles stack cover. great price and great help, my mind is made up, now just have to save my money.. i will diffenatly be going back next year what a great time.

I was at Leader first for a seminar, then to Lapierre for a bit, then back to Leader for another seminar. Great info, LOTS to see, great folks to talk with. Leader brings their dealers from all over to help out. Only disappointment was they were out of glycol, and couldn't find some other small stuff I wanted. But a very well put together gathering.

I only made it to CDL as I ran out of time, but there was plenty to check out, and lots of nice folks to talk to. I really like CDL's customer service and their friendly attitude.

The 20% discount moving sale was pretty nice and I ended up with a bunch of fittings, tubing, jugs, and other items. I was also able to meet up with Craig, whom I met here, to make the exchange on a used releaser I bought from him. Thanks Craig!

I have to say that the intense-o-fire is a pretty impressive piece of equipment!
