Here's some pics of the "suck-o-matic". Also included a few pics of the tubing using the "rapitube". The picture of the gentlman loaded up with sugaring gear....anybody know him? circa: 1958-60 ish. Nice gas powered tapper eh? :) I think that it is Rolaids! :D

Are the long side pipes for sap storage? What is the little plastic tube that is on the left side that goes to the top?

I think you are on the right direction if you use liquid level senors and valves. I my self will be using them when and if I get the time to make one. I have a large Delaval milk receiver jar now that also has a pump on the bottom to suck the sap out once the level senors tells it to. that setup doesn't need any valves the pump just over comes the vac by suction.

Dennis, after seeing sapperman's post of his releaser with the solenoid valves and liquid level sensors I think he has inspired me to improve my design and get rid of the bender mechanics. He's onto something.
Yes, the two side pipes were meant for storage and at the moment it will only fill the pipes each halfway 'cause the float will not go up any higher...should have added another 6" under the cap..oh well. The 3/8" poly tube was meant to transfer air out of the side pipe if it were to fill up but we noticed the float ball was at the same level of the pipes.

In the picture of the guy going to tap. Did they have tubeing in the 50s and also gas tappers. I see the actually spiles are some weird looking things from days gone by also.

I don't know Kenwp..I zoomed in on my photo and it looks like I have a few of those spouts on our "spout" collection board. Last year I had one in a tree and I had to put a cap on it. Maybe it was one of those vented spouts. The closer I look at the picture it looks to me to be of the early 70's? I am 45 so maybe that's what we were wearing then..nice new hammer! The other style spouts from Leader had an extension on them..got some of those also and they are blue poly and red. Anyway..he looks ready!:lol:
