Well another season is one night away from being done and my mind is racing with ideas for next year.At this time I have a 2x6 small bros and a 2x5 flat,a make shift 2x3 all with wood.My small bros has a homemade air tight arch with air blower on the back of the firebox.works great, maybe 32-35 gals per hour, the rest of the cookers are good wood burners not cookers. My thought was to rebuild my arch and add more flat, maybe front 2x3 or back flued 2x4.Question is what makes a better rig more back or more front?

You want to add more flue pan to get a higher evaporation rate.

You get more evaporation on a flues pan, should be more back. Mine is 3x8 with 3x2 front and 3x6 flues. Works good. Just make sure you don't leave drop flues in jeopardy of damage by hanging down in the firebox. This might be one case for raised flue as mine is. However the previous owner still dented the fron edge of my flues pan. They must have been careless when loading.
