I have a spectrophotometer that has round cuvettes. Not sure if it matters if it is square or round sample cuvettes. Anyone using a DR890 for light transmittence when grading?

Cuvette shape doesn't matter, as long as the one you use for your 100% transmittance (control) and your syrup (test) are matched. You also need to have analytical grade glycerol to use as your 100% transmittance control. Be sure to wipe off all fingerprints from the cuvettes and not have ANY bubbles in the cuvette (either will reflect light off and result in a lower reading). It is more difficult to measure syrup transmittance in a spectrophotometer than you might think. Almost all errors will result in syrup being graded darker than it might actually be. You're probably better off with a simple grading kit.
