I'm small time. About 6gallons this year off 20 trees. Sweet residential trees, gotta love em.
Anyway, I have no intention of becoming a business, but I love giving syrup away and I have more than I need.
The other day at the farmer's market I wondered to myself, "Could I trade syrup for chickens? Vegetables later on?"
What do you guys trade for using syrup?

i trade for everything haha. If it looks like something cool i'll throw it out there usually works. I bought a tiller and gave the guy 2 pints of syrup and he delivered it for free and knocked 50 bucks off of it.
I trade for Jams, cheese etc. depends on the demand. Put it on craigslist and say i'd like to trade syrup for blah blah and you'll be amazed at what you get.

No matter what form of payment you make the wife always takes it as her own haha.

I wonder what a new wife would cost in syrup. Hmmm must be at least a gallon or so. I gave the next door neighbour a pint of syrup for useing his tiller he seemed pleased.
I second the everything and anything. I paid the babysitter with a qt more than once. I used to trade for bacon but now I have my own pigs, I trade a qt per bundle of slab wood etc.

All the help gets is syrup. Eddy my partner in crime got 30 gallons last year. Tapes all the trees pulled all the taps and even bought beer:)

We only make 5 or 5 gal. tops. Mostly we give it as gifts. But I always give syrup to people who let me tap their trees or donate blocks etc.
My wife . . . she uses it to network with her clients at work. So I guess I use it to network with her? Gotta keep her happy. Hate to lose my prime client!

I traded a qt. of syrup for my sap trailer - that was a sweet deal.
My small motor guy won't take syrup, but he rarely charges me anything anyway. But, man have I kept him busy this spring with motor work.
