OK, so firstly I'm not giving up quite yet..but, on a 2x6 drop flu setup what is your procedure for the final burn to get everything out of it? Do you take it all apart and dump the flu into the syrup pan and finish as a batch? chase the finishing with water? or just start running water into the flu to push the last gallon or so of syrup thru? I'm thinking I should probably really start thinking of this, our weather looks terrible for the next 10 days and it might really be pretty much...............

Last year I chased it with the last of the season buddy sap and when I started drawing off the nasty smelly stuff I shut her down for the year. My plan was to drain the drop flue and fill with water then transfer that sap to the syrup pan and pull the pipe between the pans and put the cap on them throw a cover over the flue pan and finish that way.
