We lucked out with our set-up. Once it gets going we can keep it wide open most of the time.

What what? I'm making syrup and smelting metal here this fire is so hot! You can only get so much out of a small pan!

Happiness is a load of sap on the truck and you cant fit your foot between the top of the tire and the wheel well. 2 loads in one day both tested at 38degrees on the hydrometer at 2.8 % . Just got done cleaning the syrup pan

I had to buy a better valve for mine as the first one I had changed it's flow with the heat of the sap. The ball valve dosn't do that. But my preheater only makes enough sap for one pan and I have three so I have to do other things to get it to work well.

more sap than you want, freinds to help with sugarin', sweet maple syrup, and boys that like to play in the fire. Oh and havin' fun during it all. And for Russ "boiling sodas" and syrup the same color.

that quick sit down and a pull off my boiling soda between FIRING,CHECK SYRUP PAN LEVEL...FIRING ...OH FOAM QUICK...FIRING...FILL HEAD TANK...FIRING ...BRING MORE WOOD...FIRING...CHECK DRAW OFF TEMP...CHANGE PREFILTER... FIRING!!!! AHHHH SIT DOWN!!! :)

and kids hanging out with dad asking for samples and coloring in their maple coloring books!!!;)

Happiness is when you have had the evaporator running non stop for days and just when the head tank is empty it gets filled back up. Everytime I draw off I hear a cash register making that cha ching sound and just one step closer to the 3x8 or 4x10 or 5x16 for next year. Im thinking 4x10. Now that I think bout it Happiness is when my head hits the pillow.
