I need advice, how important is it that the dividers in a cross flow pan are welded solid, can there be gaps (skip welded). Can it work this way?
Thanks for your help.

A search on the subject will show that some people think it is important and others think it doesn't matter. And some people who think it doesn't matter in the flue pan, but it does matter for a syrup pan.
General consensus seems to be that if you have a reasonably tight fit, after 1 or 2 boils any minor gaps will seal themselves with sugar, but big openings are an issue.
The alternative is warping of the pan bottom unless a skilled welder does the work.

I might try to silver solder it, some of the gaps are around 1/8". The problem is, the dividers do not have a lip on the bottom/ends where they meet the pan. Not sure of a good long term fix.
