For those of you with sap tanks with a semi-circular bottom, I found a handy calculator to help measure volume. It's been a long time since I studied calculus, so this really helped me determine how much sap is remaining in my tank.

Plug in the radius of the circle (in inches), and the depth of the sap will be the segment height (inches). It will calculate the circle segment area (in square inches). Multiply this by the length of your tank (in inches), then divide by 231 cubic inches per gallon. This will give you remaining volume in gallons.

I used it to calculate total volume at each inch of depth, then printed a chart for the sugar shack. I measure depth regularly to determine my boil rate.
