Was wondering if any of you guys spray the spile and newly drilled tap hole to kill off any potential bacteria when first setting up? If so what do you use? Think I have heard of using a bleach solution or alcohol. If it is alcohol I hope it is the drinkable version - if things go bad at least one could console themselves!
Thanks

Don't use bleach unless you like squirrels chewing where the bleach touched. They will eat spouts completely in half as I know as I used it in the past for cleaning and sanitizing.

I have use the Isopropal (SP?) Alcohol and water mix (1:1) for dipping the spouts into seems to work OK. Taps seem to be staying open well into the season. (But we quit way early last year.)
