i wanted to know if a lot of guys have a sight glass on their evap. sounds like it would be a good idea, my evap. doesn't have a drain plug on it, and it seems like that is where the fitting would go to hook up a glass, any other ideas out there?

I love my site tubes. You dont mention what you have for a evap so here goes. If you have a draw off you can put on a T with a site tube fitting abnd when the drawoff is shut it will show the level. Now it might be hard to read at times due to the boiling BUT you will get the hang of it. Go to a boiler supply they have all the stuff:)

I'd like to have a sight glass too, but my rig in not set up for it.
What I do is have a piece of wood (1/2" x 2" x 12") long to gauge the depth in the flue pan. I fill the pan to the desired depth (1 to 11/2) inches, then stand the piece of wood on end in the float box and mark the level with a pen. By checking the float box depth, you can tell the flue pan depth.
