First sap of the season

Pulled in my first 115 gallons of sap today (299 taps so far). Came in at 1.5%...and 3 hours of boiling later the tank was empty, but no syrup yet. 2% or better would have been nice!

Sap was running pretty good this afternoon. made 4 gals med amber processed 550 gals of 2% in 6.5hrs on a 30x8 great day everything up and running.:D

I've been making Med Amber as well, though I am struggling with some very very fine niter. My filter press has been jamming up almost immediately. The best I've doen is to get 2 1/2 gallons through before I have to clean it up and retry.
