Does anybody else fly their flag at half staff when they see someone cutting down a local old time maple tree?

Yep -- had to remove our largest sugar maple last Fall and I'm still in mourning. It leaned over the house and dropped two huge limbs on the roof during a storm about five years ago. My excuses to save it sounded very lame after that and my wife, four adult children and common sense finally won out. I guess they figured if it landed on the house - Ma and I would be homeless and would wan't to move in with one of them -- The tree didn't stand a chance - but - I still miss it - Mike

Only the president of the United States can order to American flag to be flown at half staff. However this is not always the way it is.
