I had problems with foaming last night. Couldn't get it to go away. Any ideas why? I'm using the kosher powdered defoamer from Bascom's.
Also, I inadvertently dumped about 1/2 of the container into the flue pan, now the sap's all cloudy. I was applying it a bit liberally trying to knock the foam down and accidently dumped too much in...note to self, use a salt shaker next time. Can I filter out the defoamer or is the sap in my flue pan junk...not sure what to do with it now? Even with all that defoamer in it, the sap still was foaming up. It never foamed over, but I never ended up with a clean pan of sap roaring...more muffled.
I think I'm going back to heavy cream...that worked great last year.
