at work we use salt, well calcium chloride,on the walkways that we get in 5 gal pails, there square white pails but when i turned them over and read the bottom they say fda approved. so after a good rinsing to avoid any salty taste i am using one for my gathering pail. i dont like the label on it for the image of the whole thing to the public, gota try and get that off with the pressure washer, but have no worries at all about the safety of the pail as far as leaching and such
