Got a start today, put out 32 buckets.
Most were running, of course a fresh hole usually does.
Yeah I know, get doing the rest.
Tomorrow the landowner is going to help me finish up.
We'll be up to 200 taps this year, when I get a count I'll change our info.
We are ready for sap, just need to run it into the pans!!
Should have some this week to sweeten the pans.

I've been tapped since the 12-13th and at 1st it was running great, and then the last part of this week it just about stopped. This was the earliest I've tapped in the short time I've been doing this, so I'm ahead no matter what.....but looking forward to flowing trees again hopefully this coming week. Boiling now, and will have some syrup tonight I think!! Yaaaa!

Total taps; 217, 57 buckets and 160 online.
Sap was running good today, checked the sugar in the new bush .... 3.2%, hot ****!!
Looks like we'll gather tomorrow, may have just enough to work out the bugs and sweeten the pans.
Needed snowshoes to get around.
Next weekend is shapping up good too.
Guess we're off to the races!!!

Hi Dave, It's good to see that you are tapped in. How is Jim doing? I haven't been on the site lately because we lost power from Thursday night until almost mid day yesterday. 7 pages of threads with new post. I'm not going to be able to read all of that. Good luck with the new season it sounds like you are going to be busy.

Hi Russ,
Great to hear from you, hope things are going well for you guys.
Jim has been out of power also. As of yesterday he still didn't have it.
Cornish got hit pretty good.
He was tapping this weekend, guee I'll have to offer the generator so he can power the oil fired arch and the vacuum.
Chat with you later!
Say "HI" to the family.

Gathered 40 gallons of sap yesterday, just put it in the head tank.
May boil it in tomorrow afternoon, just to have an empty tank for Saturday morning.
As I have said it hasn't run much in the past couple of days.
Looks like starting tomorrow it's going to run good for a few days.
Have to wait and see.

Ok here's the deal ...............
We are at 32.75 gallons.
It's been raining for two days now and will continue tomorrow.
Then it looks like the highs in the upper 70's, low 80's for this coming week.
I guess the heavy set lady is starting to sing!!!!
Didn't make want we really wanted to but, we got 32.75 more than we had the first of the year.
Mother Nature will give what she can and that's it.

How much do you normally make Dave?
3% Solution
03-30-2010, 08:06 PM
Hi Russ,
Last year was 35.5 gallons off 150 taps
The year before was 37.75 0ff 130 taps.
This year was with 217 taps, not that great.
There is always next year.
Used about 1.25 cord of wood, so I guess that's cool.

The heavy set lady is done singing!!!!!
Pulled everything today.
Some of the taps were running, very cloudy, yellow, green stuff!
Not going to boil that stuff.
Now the job to clean everything up and get ready for next year.
Hopefully next year will be a better one.
