Hello all,
I am looking for some one in Michigan who may have a used 2X6, 2X8, 30"X8, or 3X8. If any of you know or see one available in Michigan, please post here. I do not have alot of time to go about the country looking for a used evaporator.

I bought an evaporator and was wandering is there any one in Michigan that knows where you can find fire brick that is reasonable I will need quite afew of them.

Here's where I got my firebrick. They seemed pretty reasonable. I also bought some 1/2" refractory blanket drops if you are looking for that as well.

Shane if you travel up to Grand rapids way My father inlaw has all the brick from my 2x8 that he wants gone cheap fulls 1/2s.........PM He is in Rockford just nort past Red Wing Boots

haynes forest products, thank you but I bought a 6x20 evaporator, I will need a few more bricks then that, I bought 3 skids from indfirebrick, but thank you very much for the info. shane

Rookie at work here in Allegan County first year with my own evaporator; homemade 30 by 72 inch pan. Finished my first batch ever of nearly 4.5 gallons the other day and of course scorched it as I was finishing. Grill cleaner works pretty well on the scorching but pretty hard to clean up the syrup with it. I salvaged about 2 1/2 gallons with the help of a very kind local producer who owns a Leader Press; So Very Cool! Syrup a little dark but crystal clear with a great taste! How do you other small producers filter this stuff effectively? Any plans out there for a hand operated filter press; I'm not likely to get more aggressive than the say 80 taps (52 this year).
