So what is a safe vacuum to run a BB2 at. Assuming you have a nice tight system, what is safe to run a BB2 dairy pump at.
At the pump with everything closed off it will run at 27-28 "Hg. And I am sure once you open it up to the rest of the line it will drop.

id say 22" redmaples but there pretty much bullet proof so you can probably run them even higher, i think russ was pulling 23.5 with no problems

yes you did mention that. But also heard that it should be run at about 17 inches to keep it from over heating and burning out the rings etc.

dont know where you hurd that, but for milking they did only pull like13-15 " i know with a vane pump its a differnt story they get hot fast and need alot of oil, the bb2 and piston pumps have a oil pan and crank just like a car/truck engine, there constily lubed

I ran my SP 22 at 23" last season and 24hours a day for a few days in a row. Mine is under my tank platform so that it gets plenty of air to keep it cool. It always passed Parkers patented "spit test" so I didn't back it down any until the very end of the season. A bb2 is older and smaller but you should be able to run it just as hard. Keep an eye on the oil level and change it once a week.
