Just getting a wood fired arch welded up and was wondering what size smoke stack you guys would recommend? Looking at S.S., but may have to settle on galvanized.

For a 2X4 all you need is 6" tstove pipe. On mine I used 6" double walled above the roof and 6" stovepipe belove the roof.

Many 2x4's and half pints are running 6" stack. I think a bigger stack could increase your draft to the point where your wood would burn faster, but your heat would be going up the stack as well.

I bought 16' of 24 gauge 6" galvanized stack, tee, roof jack and storm collar at a cost of less than $100. On my test fire I had more than enough draft for my 2x4 flat pan.

I used a tee at the back of the arch because I'm working on a preheater that will be using the extra opening.
