what date do you tap. im still fairly new and want to hear what my fellow ohio maplers have to say

We started tapping Saturday the 30th of January.

I tapped last sunday and have only collected 40 gallons. This week looks good in southern ohio

Typically we try to tap around presidents day. I have tapped as early as Jan. 11'th and as late as the 4'th of March. However the traditional time in Northeast Ohio is presidents day or the first good day after that.

Put taps out today. Had one tap that was wet when drilled, only enough to get the bottom of the jug wet. The weather is forcasted to start consistantly go above freezing this week. Uncle who used to tap up near Wooster said he always tapped the end of January beginning of February. I've tapped the last weekend in January the last 3 years.
