I have new drop flue pans for my arch. The drops are too deep so i need to raise the flue pan 1 1/2", that's not a problem. Question, is it better to have the pans level, flue pan higher or lower?

I beleave on a drop flue pan they need to be of the same height or the back pan will empty to fast into the front pan giving you more depth than you really want. We ru are front pan around 3/4 to 1 inch deep.Did I say that right. Keith

Keep it level..regardless if it is a raised or drop flue.

If the flue pan is higher, you may need a float between the two pans so the syrup pan level isn't too deep. Sort of like a raised flue pan design.

Why are the drop flues too deep?? If you have full size firebrick underneath the flues that are close to 2.5" thick, take them out and put down a 1" layer of ceramic blanket. You could also put 1/2 size firebrick in and use 1" thick pan gasket underneath the edge of the pans or some other creative ideas.
I imagine you could probably take some 1.5" sqaure tube steel and tack weld it in a few places along the top rail, just enough to hold it in place and run the evaporator with the pans on top of it. I could be wrong on this one, maybe some others can chip in.

drop flue need both pans at the same level. There should be a single float that keeps the same level of sap in both pans.
