I have a 1400 tap bush that is a single wet line set up. Someday I will put in a dry line but for now I am spending the time and $$ to put in bigger mains and shorten up my lateral to the "strive for 5" rule. I have 1 line that goes to the releaser with 677 taps on it. There is another main that dead ends near the larger one about 1/2 way up that only has 182 taps on it. Both mains are 1". Would it help if I ran a 1" line from the top of the smaller one over and into the larger one? My thought is that this may increase my vacuum higher up in the bush. The distance to hook the 2 together is only about 100'.

Since you have vac now, add the dry line up to that point, make a manifold as seen in the North American Maple Producers Manual or a variation of it and dead end the dry line just above that manifold. When you are able to proceed just go from there. The main problem is if you have laterals entering between the releaser and where that junction is.
I do not yet have vac,(hopefully 2011) but I designed my tubing for wet dry, the main has no latterals entering, all entries are on the side lines entering at manifolds I built. When I get the vac I will add the dry line and complete the system. Only had 1 year on this but it seemd to work good while I try getting ready to go with vac.

How long to run a dry line?

If you only need a 100' to connect your current lines, it may be worth it. Got to be alot of free room in that 160 tap line for vacuum to flow up to increase the vacuum in the 650 tap line.

Have you checked vacuum levels at the top of both lines? If your maintaining good vacuum at the top of both, you may not need it.

What are the other 700 taps on?

With those manifolds (mini-boosters), what size of mainline did you use from the manifold to your wet/dry lines? For example, I will be installing inch and 3/4 inch lateral mains to my wet/dry. Should I stay with 1in. pipe going from manifold to wet and dry lines or reduce to 3/4in? Do you think it makes a difference?
What did it cost you to make yours up and does this inlcude a vac. gauge?
