lets say theres an R/O in use, 4-6 miles from your sugarhouse, would it be wrong to consider renting the use of that said R/O , and what would that use be worth $?

Three Saps,
I know that my RO has little down time during season. Others may be sized such that there is time available to process more sap. An RO is a huge investment and some might like the opportunity to make more optimal use of their investment. It is certainly possible that someone would agree to rent you the use of their RO. I haven't tried to figure out what a fair rental rate might be.
Good Luck

Like Doug said most ROs are sized to the operation. However that doesn't mean there is time it isnot being used. But on a good day and you want to bring your sap and the owner is running his through, it might be a problem.
Plus something like an RO most owners are very fussy about them. If you were to bring nasty sap etc.
I guess it certainly doesn't hurt to ask.
I don't know what a fair price to charge is
