View Full Version : Patrick's MIA again
Has anyone had contact with Patrick Phaneuf in the past month? I conversed with him by email about 3-4 weeks ago and sent him a check for a part. He does not respond to my emails anymore and has not cashed my check. I realize that in the past he has been slow to respond but for a few months he always got back to me within a day. Just wondering.

He could be running day and night to get caught up. That or he's in mexico for the winter. I should charge all you guys to make a personal visit to him. That just might be a new kind of business.

I would send him an email from another email account asking him for info and prices on a brand new evaporator. If he responds back fairly quickly then you know he is blowing you off.
I have done things like that in the past. Guys that are busy and way behind will not respond to you when they know they are at fault or behind schedule but in most cases they will quickly respond to a requset for a new sale.
Then if he does respond back you know what he is doing to you. It probably won't get your order to you any quicker but atleast you know he is getting your email.
Then if you want you can tell him you caught him and you were the one requesting a quote.
I have said this before about him, He certainly isn't a good business man.
While he may have good workmanship he needs to improve on his P.R.
On the other hand he offers good prices so most are willing to accept his slow response and delivery.
Good luck

He is alive and well. Just got an email from him. I have two pans on order. Says he will see me in 2 or 3 weeks. He is also working on a 3x10 evaporator. Maybe yours?

Another thing you have to remember is that even thou he speaks english he probbably dosn't truly understand it. I had to get a translater in yesterday at school because they say they understand but we had a big mix up with my test schedule becasue they didn't understand me. I come from western Canada and even eastern Canadians have no idea what I am talking about.
A lot of english words are spelled the same in french but have no where close to the same meaning.
I have dealt witth Patrick before. He delivered my evaporator to my place in early December. His English wasn't bad. I was just wondering if something happened to him because all of a sudden he stopped replying.

I can only say that I am glad I ordered my evaporator through Leader. I agree that he makes some very nice looking equipment but it would drive me crazy having to jump through hoops to get anything. But I guess that could happen anywhere

i was e-mailin him last year for some quotes and he stopped e-mailing me after a cople cuz i think he kinda got the impresion i wasn't going to buy anything. but i was just trying to find the most cost efective way to get a pan since he is cheaper than anyone in the states for flu pans but the shipping os outragous so i think if he gets a cold sale feeling he stops replying

I had a neighbor come over a month or so ago to look at his work and they wanted one. He said he has been all over looking at evaporators and was very impressed with his work. So I gave him all the contact info and he contacted Patrick. Neighbor called me back a little disappointed because Patrick told him he was working day and night by himself to fill the orders he has and there was no way he could fit another one in until he got caught up. So it sounds like to me he is really busy. He emails me all the time to see how things are going and I have not heard from him in a month either. I just think he is very busy. On the check cashing thing Hues it takes several weeks for a U.S. check to clear in Canada. It just might have been deposited already but not cleared. The neighbor by the way is gonna wait another season in hopes Patrick can take his order sometime this summer.

I must be one of the lucky ones. In April 2008 I ordered my pans and in July he delivered it to my place with no extra charge (maybe delivery was built into the price of the pans, still cheaper then the rest). This summer he sent an email checking if I was happy with the Pans, which is nice to see happen. And yes I am very happy with them.

Grade A I must be on his good list as well. Never had a problem with him and other than being a little late which I already figured and about 2 weeks before he could not meet the deadline he called and told me. He keeps in contact still to make sure things are going well. He did some upgrades I did not ask for as well. I had one section of pipe that had very little damage to it and he refused to let me keep it and sent me a new one. I have really no complaints about him and plan to do business with him again. I think the nicer you are to him the better results you will get.
Just thought I would update this post. Still no word from Patrick regarding the thermometer I ordered. Good thing I ended up getting one from The Maple Guys. Never returned any of my emails. Not going to fret over a thermometer. Just hope he answers my calls in the future if I have any issues with the evaporator.

Don't hold your breath waiting on him to do anything.
