Evning all...joined the site a week ago when I found it..been scouring it ever since, and figured it was past time to post an introduction. My name is Chris and have been slowly getting back into this after 30 years. Last year we did 12 gallons in a 2x3 pan on blocks with 70 taps..this year we've got 220 taps marked and have upgraded to a 2x6 evaporator..OMG I'm infected! anyways I look forward to learning from all of you here.:)

Welcome to the forum, Chris. This is a great place to gain knowledge. I don't think those extra taps are going to cure your "infection" though. Best of luck from another "infected" member.

Welcome Chris from Loudon, not quite the seacoast. That 2x6 will handle more than 220. You've got some room to grow before you need an RO.

Welcome from the other side of the state.
Just what we need is another New Hampshirite to make the best syrup in the world.
You'll have a good time here, this place is full of knowledge and folks that will help you.

We may be infected, but we have our own doctor on staff, Dr. Perkins!!!

Welcome, I'm a few miles North of you, in Nottingham. I planned to up my ante to 70 taps this year. Did you spend a lot of time boiling on that 2 by 3?

spent more time boiling on that 2x3 than I should have...did 12 gallon of syrup last year on it...it averaged around 5-6 gph or so.....hoping that the 2x6 should triple that without wasting as much wood.

I'd think it would. I'm going to try to expand my set up a little. It's amazing what some minor "tweaking" can do to evaporation rates.

I'm hoping for double with the 2x6 from the 2x4 of course I'm more than doubling the taps.
