I currently have a 1400 tap line that is potentially expandable to about 2000. Right now I run an undersized Delaval 75 and get 17 +/- in. throughout the system. It all runs into a Bernard double releaser. I have a chance to buy a Sihi 3408 5hp pump at a reasonable price. Before I hand over the cash can I get some feedback. Is this a good pump for my application? I don't want to find out later that I should of bought a bigger pump. How much Hg will it pull? Could it handle 2000, 3000 or even more taps? Any problems or secrets with these pumps? Can I expect more sap? Any comments would help.

That pump will handle all that you'll throw at it. I know of a couple of guys that are running them on 5000 tap bushes and are pulling 26". You just need to keep a steady supply of cold water going into it to cool the pump. A 5/16 line, with a cold water supply will be sufficient.

If you want to get more info on it, talk to Dufresne. he is a dealer for sihi
But as I told you that size pump should do just fine for you
