I have a new 2 X 8 Lapierre raised flu storm evaporator coming on Friday. How many firebricks should I have ordered at the local hardware store? Full and/or half bricks. Thanks Will 50lbs of cement be enough?

Bascom's catalog has a 2x6 Lapierre and says it requires 70 firebrick so a 2x8 will take about 100 give or take the few you break while cutting them to the angles. I don't know about the cement and it probably varies with your mason skills and how thick you spread it. You can always go buy more.

My 2x6 drop flue took 128 split bricks and I did not put any in the ash pan. I would have to think yours will take more than that. But heck just do some measuring and a little math and you will get the right number. Just add a few extras into the equation for mistakes. When you place the order ask if you can return any unused if you get to many.
