We have switched to from using PVC to polyethylene 5/16" sap lines, but we mostly all still use black water line for our main lines. Aren't these lines also made of PVC? If so, shouldn't we be rethinking their use and switching to the blue main lines? It appears that a lot of nasty stuff could be going on inside these lines during the course of a year in the woods.

I am hanging all black in my woods. You can cut down on the nasty by rinsing them good after the season. I thought about blue but the cost was not worth it to me.

I like the blue, and use it. But many, like Bascom at 60,000+ taps, use all black, so I'm not going to knock it.

i prefere the black cause it keeps the suns uv rays out and it looks much better with dark blue line and greeen:cool:

I thought the Sun's UV rays were good for killing bacteria. and that was one of the reasons for using them beside keeping your sap cooler.

but I have to agree I think it looks good too.
