Best Spouts for Use with Milk Jugs?

Are the hallow cone spouts the best? What has been your experience?

for the money i would use these taps just cut whole in jug so it hangs behind ring on tap

they say one time use but for what your doing if you take care of them they should last a few years i am going to try some for buckets this year

The best spouts for milk jugs I found are the normal 5/16 or 7/16 tubeing spouts. I hang the jugs on the spout with a short peice of nylon cord and use a couple of inches of tubeing into the jug. They lift off very easy and you get to fill the whole jug.

Before I had pipelines I used sap pails and 2 gallons ice cream buckets.I drill a 2 inch hole for the tap and used a 7/16 metal tap with the hook off. Pour the sap out the hole or if it was frozen took the cover off to empty it.Now I still used some but I drill two holes one 2" to empty and a 7/16 for the pipeline tap.Put the cover on to keep out dirt and just tip the bucket on the tap to empty, works great. Just curious, What brand of maple are those? I dont think we have maples that look like those? What am I missing?

My maples are still froze and it is cold out .Nice here on mapletrader LOL

i used milk jugs the first season. i used the 7/16 metal bucket spouts, cut an x in the jug, the jug will hang great even in wind. only problem is sap freezes and you cant get it out till a thaw. so collect often.

Thats what most of our sugar maples look like around here also. One of the first things you notice for a sugar maple here is the Lichens growing on the trunks. The others have them some what but the sugars almost alwasy have them.
