On those lapierre slider fittings what holds the tubing once you loop around the tree? I can only see where the tubing goes straight through the fitting before it loops around the tree.

thanks,

They have 2 different methods of hooking to the line--they have a hook that attaches to the line and a strap that wraps around the line. Both have a loop that the slider hooks into. I have had great success with the straps.

I have never used the straps like mapleworks, but i use the hooks and I like them... never had any problems with them...

so you have to buy either the hooks or straps separately to the slider itself?

thanks

We use the end line hooks at the head tree and the straps (slide fittings) where the lateral connects to the mainline just before the saddle manifold.

Why would you want to use the slider at the tree?? The sap will have to travel all the way around the tree!!! We use the hook connector at the tree then the last drop is a blocked Tee so the sap goes directly down hill.

I like the slider at the tree to allow me another point to tighten my lines. They also allow for quick installation when I'm setting up--no tools required to install.

maplewrks , Do you use them at the mainline for the Saddle? i hurd people using them at both ends and they seem to like them really good, I think this new bush im doing im gunna use them,

I also do as maple works does using them at the head tree and at the mainline. They are quick to install and give two points to retighten your laterals. Pretty user friendly. Only problem is they take a little bit of elbow grease to separate once line is seated if you need to take the slide a part.

Like MW said--I use them both ends, It gives me 2 points to tighten line from

i put out 1200 sliders in the last two weeks, and i am going to agree with my neighbor big john. yes they tighten both ways but the sap has to travel all the way around the tree and at a slight up hill angle, that the drop is built in with the slider, no one way tee. two less connections to leak. time will tell.

so are you guys saying the slider is best used at the mainline not the tree, I use a End ring without the drop connecter i think there lapierre or D&G and put a tee wherever its best so it dont have to go all the way around the tree, Seems to work for me,

Mike I don't seem to follow what Casey is saying when installing the end-ring w/drop connection. Is he somehow attaching it to the tree without going around the tree. I don't get it!

I put the end ring on around the tree, and connects, Then I put the a drop with a tee where the sap has a stright shot down the lateral

Nate--Are you using the end rings w/o the dropline attachment?? I've used the both style end rings (Leader and Darveau?) The Darveau? style does not have a drop line barb on them, and you need to cut your drops in around the tree. I personally like the better than the leader ring, due to the fact that I can put the drop where I want. Back to the thread--I put sliders on both ends, I have a 3' drop on the end tree, and about 12" on the mainline end to attach to manifold. Like it was said in the thread, It does take a little elbow grease to get them apart. When you first try them, you may scratch your head a little, as to how to attach them, but once you use them a little, you'll really like them.

yes without the drop line barb I just switched over to them this year and i really like them better than the ones with the drop connection

Casey, the end-ring w/o the drop line attachment is that the same item as #4738 on the Leader Evaporator website except it being a solid dead-end barb?

Ok, so how do you attach the tubing without going around the tree?

Casey, granted you can put the drop where you choose and you will have that "straight shot" to the lateral but you will notice that sap stays in the section of tubing even after washing. Over time you will see the tubing blacken with bacteria. I have been switching over to the double-ended ring whereas the sap flows through and around the tree. When you go to wash your lines all the nasty is pumped out. Item #4738 as I mentioned earlier is not designed to hang a 7/16 spout. You have to specify when ordering.
