Is it worth it in gas costs to run vac to 70 - 80 taps. I have the generator, vac pump and releaser. Will be able to run 20" easy with how close the trees are. How big of a stock tand should I use if they are gravity or on vac?

If you have everything then I'd do it. You will get a lot more sap that is for sure. I'd say you should have a 200-250 gal tank but ultimately it depends on how often you can pump it out
Lets say 80 taps on gravity yields you around .25gal of syrup per tap per year and on vac you get .5 that is 20 gallons without vac and 40 with. So the extra 20 gallons at say 44.00/gal equals 880. that is a rough idea I know there are other factors but something to think of

The plan is to grow so go with the vac I would always go with the bigger tank leaving room to grow. I have a 250 gallon on the 550 taps and because it was there to start with I keep it BUT im tired of it running over all the time:mad:

Nobody said you had to have a milk tank. Get your self a nice open top tank. There isn't a maple dealer that cant get you one. How ever they are a little pricey.

Chris where you have all of the stuff you would be foolish not to. With 70 or 80 taps the releaser will take a while to dump and fill but it will and you will get more sap than if it was gravity.
