Currently have 150 taps on buckets in fairly steep sloped bush. Would like to go to tubing in the future, but for now I am thinking about using two or three collecting tanks to dump into with a 3/4" line running from from each tank down to the main tank at the sugarhouse at the bottom of the bush. Any thoughts?

There is a thread someplace on this idea already. You have to make sure that when you dump into the higher tanks it dosn't just fill up the lower tank and dump on the ground. Either with back flow valves or some other gizmo. Makes sense to do it just has to have all the fine points worked out.

If you are going to put up the main line to be used as dumping stations then why not just put up the laterals and be done with it. With only 150 taps it won't take you long at all. I'd recommend that you just put it all on tubing all at once. If the slope is steep, how much sap are you losing from collecting in buckets and slipping causing spills?

Sweetrun,
Every Sugarbush is different, if the trees lay on a slope of 100 feet or less from bottom to top then run the 3/4 inch at the bottom and then run tubing staight up the hill from the 3/4 line. That is the proper way to install tubing.
