fixing a split hole?

is there any way to fix a split in the tree from an over tapped spile.
other then wait till next year. does any one have any techniques? i got one and its so minute of a split it just leaks all over the tree. and a reminder not to over bang

Grey putty used to seal electrical entrances around the spout will help :idea: but is not a cure all by any means. Sticks real well to courser barked trees but is tough with reds,silvers,etc. :cry: Only real cure is to let nature take its course. Another reason the tree will split easy is if it is still frozen some. When in doubt if they are frozen, set the tap lightly,if it starts to seep later in the season when thawed, you can go back through and reseat them a touch. :wink:
