Have a chance to move out of my 16" X 24" lasagna pan into a bigger pan but is galvanized. It's one of those 24" X 33" ones that is so typically made at vocational schools, industrial arts classes, etc. It doesn't leak and is free. It is not new by any means and has made a lot of syrup. Although we don't sell any syrup we give most of it away and certainly don't want to cause anyone potential harm. The current owner is still going strong so my initial thought was how bad can it be!:D Before I take it and modify my barrel, wanted to hear what the experts thought. Would definitely love to speed the process! Thank you.

Just the sound of you saying it is galvanized and it has boiled alot of syrup in it made me cringe. Old galvanized anything has alot of lead in it and I have to think boiling syrup in it is just not a good idea.

Check it for lead and see what it gives out.
