Well I guess she was sick and tired of being in mom, so we went into the hospital late sunday night after my wife's water broke here at the house. Up all night and she delivered our first baby Monday morning at 7:26am.

Alexa was born premature, my wife was 32 weeks, but she and mom are doing well. Alexa will be in NICU for a bit they tell us but she's breathing on her own and just growing. She's pretty darn cute, she didn't get that from me!!

She's not as small as I thought she would be. 4 lbs 12 oz, and 18 inches.

Off to the hospital now. I'll keep you posted.

Congrats on the little one! Excitement will soon transition into exhaustion - but sugar makers know how to handle that better than anyone! My nephew was born just a few days further along than your daughter and he's now an 18 month old butter ball so hopefully everything works out for you and your family.

That's great. I still remember my first born and the excitement even though it was 41 yrs and 6 days ago. But he was not early, he went 8#6oz and just kept going from there.
She will grow fast.

Congratulations to you and your wife. My daughter was also born at 32 weeks. Being in Buxton you're probably in Portland. My daughter was born there and their NICU is top notch. They do a great job and I believe they're rated as one of the top NICU's in the U.S.

Alexa is doing very very well. They had a c-pap(nasal air) on her for only 12 hours after she was born and then didn't need it. Tuesday night they took out the IV, yesterday they took out her Pick line. So the garbage is coming off her quickly. All the nurses come in and tell us she is just there hanging out. Yesterday they told us she is the #1 draft pick to head to the Continuing care nursery so that is the next step to her coming home. They just have to wait for a room to open up. Can't wait for that... about the time I get home at night I want to head back in to check on her.

She is in Portland at Maine Med, they are really awesome. It is nice to know she is in good hands. I am told they are one of the top in the country for NICU.

My wife Gina is doing very well also.

I got a nice surprize when I changed her last night volcano poop, shot out and covered my entire hand everything. WOW. Boy didn't the nurses love that. They said it was pay back for me giving the nurses a hard time and teasing them. Not me, I wouldn't do that.

She's a little peanut.

She'll be running a chain saw in another week or so.

Congrats to you and your wife, Matt. I remember my youngest getting me with "projectile poop", unfortunatly for me, we were on the turnpike at a rest stop in Jersey. It became the first of many happy memories as yours will.

Glad to hear the good news Matt. I was going to call for an update but didn't know when you could be reached. Now I can tell everyone how things are going.

You want me to get that little Stihl saw running for you?

Matt,
Glad to hear the little one and the Mrs are doing well. Before you know it' you will be sitting in a folding chair with a smile on your face and a tear on you cheek watching her get her college diploma. Enjoy every minute of her company. It goes way too fast.

Alexa has been home for a bit over a week now and it's great. Way better than going to the hospital every night. She's doing great and just feeding and growing. Best christmas present I could have asked for.
