View Full Version : Stack Vent Sheathing

I'm planning on running my stack through the peak by cutting the ridge beam out between two rafters (24" o.c.) and framing an opening so that the stack has as much heat clearance as possible. I am planning on only sheathing with plywood on the roof up to the framed opening so that only the metal roofing (that will be on top of the plywood) extends past the sheathing up to the stack.

Am I creating a problem where some of the moisture from inside the shack can now get up against the exposed metal roof around the stack, condense and run down the roof between the sheathing and the metal roofing?

Thanks in advance. Pics on the way.

If you are worried about the steam getting in there by a tube of caulk and seal it up.

Sean,
Don't woory about it, there is enough heat coming of the stack to keep the moisture evaporated.
