small sugar shack pics

I about dreaming of a boiling inside a sugar shack, I know this is not going to happen but I would like to see pictures of your small sugar shacks maybe for next years project.

Some might say this doesn't count as a shack since it's next to the arch instead of on top of it. But it holds all our sweet, and equipment, and our comfy chairs, and sometimes our 4 wheeler and the sap trailer, lol.

Thanks for the pictures Maple rookie I love the wood shed attached to the back of your shack. Keep the pictures coming and the stock tank on the outside of the shack is a great idea my wish list is growing. With a small evap do you find that there is engough room in a small sugar house I would love to go bigger but my yard isn't that big and I don't own any of the trees we tap so its not likely I will ever go any bigger than my 2x4 evap, at least at where I am currently living

03weim, Im Building This Sugarhouse For My 2x6 Rig, I Firmly Believe, That If Its Weel Organized And Not Alot Of Clutter You Can Make This Work Very Productively. Sorry I Didnt Get To Put Up Anymore Picts Today But Maybe In The Am I Will Get A Chance. I Did However Get To Poor A Cement Floating Slab For The Arch This Morning Apprx 5in Thick. 3ftx8ft . Cant Wait To See How You Build Yours.

Just started my sugar house - Put down the crushed stone foundation last weekend and framed the walls this weekend. Next weekend the roof, I will try to post some pics as I go - 10x12 shack may be small but but last year I boiled outside.

I think we would have built a little bigger if we could have, but it works well for what we're doing.

I was lucky. We were in the process of planning our garage and decided to also build a sugar shack. I sold the wife on the shack because we also keep bees and figured we could do our honey extraction/candle making out there too.

Shack is 14 x 20, cost around $3000 for materials, including the 6" concrete slab & stone underneath. The only thing left to do is to build the cupola doors & pulley system. Oh, and install the stack.

There are a few picts on my website of the shack. Once the doors are installed I'll take a few more picts, both inside and out.

Stoweski your sugar shack is great, how big of an evaporator do you have? I love the front door did you make that or is it something that can be store bought?

The front door (and rear although not pictured yet) are both built on site. I took the idea from the doors that we put on the upstairs of the garage. Just take rough cut pine boards and lay them out, rip a few for the frame, fasten them down, make the "X" on each door then rip the door down the center. Worked out great. After we built it I should have made the door 6" wider for more overlap but other than that it does the job nicely.

2010 will be my first year tapping. I bought a used 1/2 pint from up in VT back in April. Will be boiling on that this year. We'll see what happens next summer. Something tells me I'll be upgrading. :)

heres a pic of my sugarhouse. 8 by 11 it was when first built but it only stayed that way one season then i got the maple bug and added an 8ft addition to the back to fit in a 2 by 8 evap i got.

This was my small shack used last year
I converted it form an old playhouse of my sisters
It was 8x8 with a 18"x4' evap in it i dont know how well i am going to adapt to my 12x20 with a 3x8 for 2010 but I hope it is cooler
