what is the latest on the stainless steel mirco spouts, have not heard about them lately

They don't work very well. Bascom Maple dropped them from their 2005 catalog.

I heard a few things said about them at the New York maple conference and it was all negative. Another person trying to get rich quick and rip off others. :x

I know a few people using them ,some did their own tests last year to check the flow of sap against the 5/16 health spout, most told me they saw no difference and ordered more this season. Others said the tree healed so fast and believed the health of the tree was so important, if the sap flow was less , they didn't care. They are stainless and last forever , boil'em , dry'em and tap.

I they they are a great idea if they work. We will know for certain in another 5 or 10 years. Sure could put a lot more taps on a tree using a spout that size, so it would make up for an decrease in sap flow per spout. I don't use vaccum, so I guess they won't do me any good to try them. :?
