Not sure what you're building and if being a newcomer myself, I'm getting a piece of 3/16 or 1/4 steel plate and I'm going to cut an opening for a Vogelzang 150E deluxe door. They claim it's insulated and I like the looks of the draft control and I think it has a seperate clean out door opening.

If you ask around or contact equipment dealers you are bound to find a used arch that is all rotted out. The front and back castings are usually reusable but the sheet metal and side rails are shot. Some times the front may have cracked on an old one but it may be a way to get a front and back that you can rehab back to life

I made a homemade arch from a 275 gallon oil tank and I used a piece of 1/4" steel plate for a door. I insulated the inside with 1/2" of fire proof insulation to help prevent warping.
