Do any of you know what a milk veyor is/does? I bought one tonight on an auction site. It looks like I can use it for a finisher if I put a propane burner under it and add a tap.

It looks like a dump station for milking in a tie stall barn.

They don't use them much any more but they are still legal. You use a milking machine that just has a suction hose going to it and it dumps into the veyor and you wheel it to the holding tank. To much work if you have a bunch of cows.

This looks like the unit called a "Step-Saver" The part in your picture moves down the barn aisle as you milk,to provide a close place to dump the "bucket" that hangs under the cow. With some good Holsteins producing over 60 puonds of milk, the farmer (or his kids-me) would get very long arms carrying all that milk to the milk houe to dump into the bulk tank.

The companion part was called the releaser (yes, also used in small vacuum maple set-ups).
The releaser was wall mounted in the milk-house above the bulk tank and sucked the milk from the dump station in the barn to the milkhouse using the same vacuum source that was used to milk the cows. It pulled in and "released" about 3 quarts per cycle in the units I saw.

I coverted one of those into a draw-off tank--5/8' milk hose fits over the nipple on the bottom, the other end goes right to my filterpress!!

I did the same as maplwrks. I actually got 2 that came with my evaporator. (no, none are for sale)

I picked up the Milk Veyor tonight. It came with some other items inside. 1 being a line dryer. Plugged it in and it works. I think I just found the source for my air over fire. The thing is just a motor with filter on one end and it blows air out the SS funnel at the other, even has a timer built in. It is only about the size af a coffee can but it seems to put out a lot of air.
There are also some clear tubes with a spring and little ball in the tapered end. I don't have a clue what they are but they must be some kind of check valve that shuts off when the ball goes in the tapered part.

MartinP that sound like it would make a better air induction unit in the flue pan. It has a filter and all. Check some past post on bubblers and such.

I am considering using the releaser on some road trees near me
