Surge BB 2 vacuum pump

I just bought a surge BB 2 vacuum pump last night for $100 from a guy near me. It is in excellent condition. When we started it up it had good vacuum and ran nice and quiet. I've read that it should handle about 200 taps which I have a small section on my farm away from the main bush I plan to use it on. Did I pay too much?(just wondering) and does anybody have experience with this pump. Thanks Mike

Does your pump look like this ? Does it have a 1/2hp motor and 3/4?, i had good luck with these pumps they dont use much oil at all and can run pretty much 24/7

Mine looks just like yours and has a 3/4 hp motor.

I'm new to vac. Couple of ?'s on bb2. I drained the oil out today it was pretty nasty lots of slugs. Can I flush with fuel oil to clean out and this unit has no type of recaimer on it. Should I put one on or don't they use that much. If I need one can someone point me in the right direction as to what I need.
