Jason if you have any friend at ma bell their a great source for wire spinners they could get you a lead on a used one. or search online for a "J2 Cable Lasher" they are made and refurbished in Pennsylvania. But I will say this one person can lash 2000' of main line in about 10 min. or less we use it for 1/2" to 2" main's. I did try a cable tie once when leader was up working on a friend bush last fall it was the first and last time cable tie's are just not for me they due work but. The spinner is much easier and quicker.

Finlay got the chance to cut inn all the new saddles last night before dark then sat by the fire and made drop lines hope to cut them in after work tonight the only left then to make a new manifold to tie it all in!

How much stainless wire does the lasher use per 1000 feet?
Maple Restoration

Not sure Chipa I think it may be between 1002' to 1008' per 1000' lashed depending on the size of the bundle you are lashing.

I thought the cable lashers spun two strands of wire. Each stand wraps in opposite direction as the main unit spins around what you are lashing.
Lashing wire is what I use for wire ties. Takes alittle time to make but when I need them I make them as I watch tv.

Keith normally they due run two spools of wire and double lash, but with the strength of the ss. wire we only run it with a single spool.

Mike
When you run only one spool does it lash it tight enough so that the plastic main line can't get little sags? How many feet does it go for the lasher to make a complete rotation? I know the wire is strong but wonder if by using both spools it would keep the mainline tighter to the wire for a longer time.

Keith it dose run it really tight to the point that I uses a screwdriver to spread the main wire and the tubing to get the saddles on under the wire, and it takes 8 to 10" of travel for one complete wrap. if their is any sags it is because the main wire is not tight enough.

How do you tie the wire off when you get to the end of the run of pipe? Do you cut the wire with cutters and tie it?

MapleChaser once we reach the end we pull out a extra 2 to 3' of wire and hand wrap it till you get to the anchor then tie it off you can cut the wire with simple cutting pliers.

Why can't you put a hose clamp on over the lashing at the end to hold it until you can cut it and tie it off?
Mike thanks for the answers. If it wraps once every 8-10 inches then I can see where one spool would be good enough.

I was wondering if the lasher will work on the high tensile wire we use to tie pipeline to? Or do you need a bigger strand wire for the lasher? Thanks

Yes MapleChaser is dose work on high tensile SS wire I use 12.5 gauge bare SS high tensile wire. we have not had a problem yet.

How much does a spool of lashing wire cost?

Chipa new lashers they are around $4500.00 new but I have seen used ones from $100.00 to $500.00 you really have to search for the on the net. sorry the wire that I got is about $10.00 per roll.

I always said a lasher would work great. That was my only thought that it would not lash pulling it up smaller wire than 1/8 th inch. But the lasher works ok pulling it up 12.5gauge wire? Just want to make sure before I buy one.

I go out around 200 feet and do a anchor to the tree go another 200 feet and anchor again with my mainline high tensile wire. My question is can you run the lasher to the first anchor unhook the lasher leaveing the lasher wire connected go around the anchor set it back on the mainline wire rehook and go to the next anchor? I still have over 5000 feet of pipe line to put up and this lasher idea is very interesting. Thanks for your help MC

MapleChaser yes we run from anchor to anchor, when you get to the first anchor you pull out some slack wire lift the lasher on the other side of the tree set it back on your next run close the guide gates and keep on going to the next point, one thing to remember is before you lift off the lasher all ways tape off your stop point this allows you to move the lasher with out loosing any tension on the first run. I learned the hard way.

Thank you for your help. That was my only concern. Now the hard part is finding a lasher reasonable.
Thanks again MC
