I would like to find a good source for a 3000 gallon stainless holding tank for the sugar house. Any good places to find one used? I think stainless would be better than plastic.
Thanks for the help.

If a dairy farm in your area goes out of buisness go to the auction they usually have ss tanks. Some local auctioniers send out email reminders of the upcoming auctions. 2 auction companys send me reminders.

By the time you get that big you might want to look for a used truck mounted tank. I have seen tanks that were damaged in accidents and are no longer used for hauling milk. They are dented up some but sell for alot less.
A 3,000 gal tank would need to be off a tandem truck.
Even the round bottom stainless tanks normally go up to around 1500
Good luck

Would take a pretty big dairy farm to have 3000 gallons of milk at any one time. it's too bad we are not out west in Alberta there are no sugar makers and you can find SS tanks a lot easyier then here. Most dairys have gone out of business out there in the last few years and they sit around with no homes.

There is a guy up in the enosberg area that sometimes has bulk tanks on hand that the refridgeration does not work anymore but they are great for sap tanks I bought one from him a few years ago. I will get his number and post , I can not think of his name now but it will come to me. you could also call Dick Soule in fairfax he might know of some tanks.

Maplechaser,
e-bay has a 3000 gallon truck mounted stainless tank on it currently. Located in Kentucky but the current bid is $500. That doesn't reach the reserve and I have no idea what you would have to give or what it would cost to get it shipped north. It is item number 190327873810. Guys phone number is 270-836-6838. Closing time is late this morning. Might be worth a phone call.

It was dick soule that I bought my tank from in Enosburg falls. his # is 933-6167. give him a call he may be able to help you out. We bought two 1000 gallon bulk tanks from him a few years back. the refridgeration did not work in them any more, but they make great sap tanks.

for shipping stuff www.uship.com
to find auctions in your area www.auctionzip.com
on uship you make a post with your item on it and people can give you a bid on trucking it to you.it might be a big trucking company or some guy headed the right direction at the right time.
